Reid's at EQUIP in Orlando, FL

Here we are at Wycliffe's USA headquarters in Orlando, Fl. Our family is attending the EQUIP course, which is preparing or equiping us for our first assignment with Wycliffe, which is partnership development (PD). Our follow-on assignment will be to Waxhaw, NC (tentative), followed by Papua New Guinea! We are so excited and can not wait to go. Please pray for us. Check out our Wycliffe web site, which in provides assignment details and opportunities to join with us to help Wycliffe in their goal to have a Bible translation in progress for the 200 million people, or 2,390 LANGUAGES that don't even have one word of God's Word in thier own language. http://www.wycliffe.org/partnership.aspx?mid=XQAISF

Accepted by Wycliffe!

Dear friends, we have heard from Wycliffe that our application for membership has been accepted, and we are now officially members of Wycliffe! Thank you all for praying with us during this time.
My new job that I started here at Fort Hood three weeks ago (I got hired the same day I found out about our acceptance to Wycliffe) has been wonderful. I am working in IT as a contractor on Fort Hood. My employer knows of our plans with Wycliffe and are supportive. In fact they granted us two weeks time off in September to go to Orlando for Wycliffe training after only one week as an employee! Talk about favor from God.
The next step for us is Partnership Development, the phase of Wycliffe membership where we learn to trust God for partners to join us in prayer and financial support. It has been exciting, as we have already begun to receive both one time financial gifts as well as pledges for monthly support; even before we have officially asked for either. God is really prompting people and people are being obedient to His voice.
Please join us in prayer as we enter this phase which will surely be a growing experience for us both. We are praying for the partnership development process to go rapidly so that we may begin working with JAARS sooner rather than later. Continue to pray for Ruthe as she homeschools our children who are doing excellent.
Our email addresses will remain richreidjr@hotmail.com and ruthejreid@msn.com, however we now also have rich_reidjr@wycliffe.org and ruthe_reid@wycliffe.org.
If you wish to join with us in our ministry either in prayer or financially, please contact us by email, mail, or phone.
Love,
Rich

Trusting and Waiting!...

I have now been out of the Army for 1 week and have been enjoying it more and more every day. I have enjoyed not shaving or having to get up early; I have really enjoyed my leisurely breakfast and devotions out on the back patio with Ruthe with our kids and Molly playing and running around or jumping on the trampoline; I have really been enjoying the gorgeous weather we have been having and seeing the effect it has had on my roses and the yard. I have enjoyed having lots of time, time to do yard work or detail the car or my motorcycle; or just to go riding; or try to track down my other retired buddies and go to lunch...

Basically I have gotten a taste of what retirement is going to be like and I LOVE it! I know I am not done working and in fact we have a TON of work to do, but it really gives me something to look forward to.

Now we are just trusting God to provide direction. Where to go, where to work, where to live, etc. Almost daily I have a job interview of sorts either in person or on the phone; we are just praying that the right one will open up. Soon.

Rich Flying JAARS helicopter in Waxhaw

Reid's to Join Wycliffe?!!

Hello everybody,
we have decided to put our family news on our blog in addition to emails that we will be sending. As many of you know, we have been praying and pursuing God's will regarding our going to the mission field with Wycliffe Bible Translators. I have returned from Waxhaw, NC, where I completed a week long technical evaluation with JAARS (www.JAARS.org). I flew their helicopter and was evaluated by two of their full time aviation staff members. It was a great week and God really blessed us with perfect weather. I am pleased to say that I passed the evaluation, and we are now to the Wycliffe application phase. Please pray with us as we move closer to my departure from the Army on May 15th. Pray that God will provide a job until the application is complete, and and support for the mission field is raised should we be accepted. I am looking for any job, anywhere, but preferably in aviation, or IT; and preferably in N.C. Also pray that God will provide the money to pay for the flight time during the Technical evaluation (we didn't know we would be responsible for those charges before we went to Jaars :)
Thank you all for joining us in prayer for guidance in this matter! Rich (for Ruthe)
